Double Entry Journal #2

Quote:
“Students already understand that particular styles of language are appropriate for one venue but not another.”

Response:
I tend to agree with this statement. I feel that the technological advancements in education have had a profound impact on language, but this impact is not necessarily a negative. I view it as the evolution of language. Now I’m not saying that abbreviations and acronyms should enter major literature, but I don’t feel we should fight the times. I think teachers should not only teach proper language but also when to use it. For the most part I myself and fellow students I’ve encountered know when to write appropriately.

This is an article concerning the effect that modern technology has on language.

I chose this article because it offers statistics and show the effect that technology has had on language, and it also puts these changes in perspective. These changes are no reason to despair, they are simply alongside convention to the traditional English language.
